Lydia Wong

Pianist Lydia Wong was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to Canada in 1973. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto and the Concert Recital Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, her principal teachers being Boris Berlin, Pierre Souvairan and Paul Berkowitz While in England Lydia won the Ivan Sutton Recital Prize and made her Wigmore Hall debut to critical acclaim. A frequent visitor to the Banff Centre she has attended both summer and winter programs as participant and faculty member. She has performed widely as soloist and is much sought after as a chamber musician and accompanist having collaborated with such artists as Shauna Rolston, Marina Piccinnini, Moshe Hammer, Lorand Fenyves, Joel Quarrington and Frans Helmerson. She can be heard on Marquis Records and recently made her New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall. She now makes her home in Toronto where her husband is a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
